"All Our Tracks and Ways: Bourke's Pioneering Reed Dynasty" is now available at my online bookstore (click here).
Both James and Frances Reed came from big families with a history of longevity.
James was the youngest of nine children born to Thomas Reed and Elizabeth Sutton between 1790 and 1806 in Ash Green, near Trentham in Staffordshire, England. His mother died before he reached four months old but his father lived to be 88 years old.
Frances was the oldest of five children born to Sergeant Benjamin Heazle and Elizabeth Wilson between 1812 and 1822. While both of her parents died fairly young, her Heazle grandparents lived well into their 80s and 90s.
With these good genes, it is no wonder that both James and Frances lived into their mid-80s.
My forthcoming book, All our tracks and ways, is thoroughly researched and provides full details of the Reed and Heazle ancestors and siblings. It goes on to chronicle the lives of James, Frances and their twelve children, while introducing all 89 of their grandchildren.
